BROWN: Brown: Looking for any information on Warren BROWN and his wife Rosanna Gerrish BROWN. According to information from the Vinalhaven, Maine Historical Society Warren and Rosanna may have been married on May 16, 1846. In addition, and according to information obtained from same source, the 1850 census indicates that Warren was a fisherman at age 23 and Rosanna was age 22. This would indicate that Warren may have been born in 1823 and Rosanna in 1824. Warren & Rosanna had a son Charles BROWN who was born in 1848 in Vinalhaven (same source as above) I have traced my BROWN family to this point and have run into a dead end...any and all help appreciated...thank you Steve Brown  SteveB539@aol.com   Jan. 2K

CARVER/SHAW: Otis SHAW (b. c1785 at Vinalhaven) m. Lydia CARVER 31 Aug 1807 at Vinalhaven. Looking for birth, death, parents, etc for Otis. Seems to have appeared from thin air. Any help appreciated. November 1999

CLARK/AMES: My gr grandfather Capt. Mark Dyer AMES b.2 Sept 1827, I believe was born in Vinalhaven or NorthHaven, a son of Hezekiah AMES (or EAMES) and Sally SCOFIELD (perhaps of Mt Desert ME?). He died and was buried in South Thomaston ME 20 Feb. 1896.

I am anxious to establish some certainty in my findings, which to this point have mostly been from family notes etc. I would like to have vital records for any of this family including those who remained on the islands, and where others may have gone to when they left. If you show something of Hezekiah or Sally's parentage I would appreciate that as well. It appears that Hezekiah had a good many children and perhaps more than one wife.

I believe Hezekiah was son of yet another "Capt" Mark Dyer AMES, a son of Jedidiah EAMES of Marshfield Massachusetts. Beyond that I may find my original immigrant ancestor from the old country.

I did make a trip to So. Thomaston a couple of years ago and found the grave of the younger Capt Mark in the village cemetery there, so have data from the stone on him and his wife, Nancy Butler AMES. There is a seemingly obvious connection to a DYER line as several in the family use the middle name of DYER, however I have not found any clue to that as yet either. ~researching CLARK, AMES (Maine and MA), and FENNER, COOPER (RI) Jean CLARK COMTOIS, ondgo@aol.com December 1999

HALL/CLARK/CUMMINGS: Looking for information on a James HALL family that was in the 1888 Appleton Register. Here is the information that I have so far: James HALL b. 1825, d. 1896 married Mary Ann CLARK b. 1822, d. 1915. Children: Harriet C. b. 1870, Horatio D. b. 1864 others in household in 1880 James F., Orris F., Mary E. & Lydia C. HALL. Lydia HALL married William O. CUMMINGS she was b. 1866 and died in Waldoboro in 1964.

Lydia CUMMINGS for years had a William CLARK Family Bible which was given to my father around 1954. I have run into a dead end trying to find the parents of William CLARK. Mary Ann CLARK was not one of his children so she could have possibly been a sister or a niece of William CLARK. I am attempting to find out where Mary Ann CLARK HALL was born. Some of her children were born on Matinicus but I don't know if she was from that island. Would anyone have access to the death record of Mary Ann CLARK HALL who died in Appleton in 1915. She is buried in the Pine Grove Cemetery. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated and I would love to hear from compare notes with anyone researching this family as I know we are related.    Joanne Clark Borden     jborden1@beld.net    Oct. 2K

DOUGLASS:Hello Bill,

I just subscribed to Ancestry.com and see that you have posted an query re: DOUGLASS in the Vinalhaven,Me area.

I am researching my Woodard/Douglass line in Me. and the name of Vinalhaven is connected to these names so went to the Vinal,Me. genealogy site to see what and where it is and if I could find anything out about these folks.

My Elizabeth DOUGLASS was born in 1826 and kies in 1902 near or around Vinalhaven. She married Benjamin WOODARD born @ 1821 and died in 1890. Married Elizabeth, I'm estimating @ 1846 as their first child, Martin George, was born 1848. They had 12 children between 1848 and 1868.

I understand that Benjamin and Elizebeth are both buried in the Mill Stream Cemetery in Springfield,Me. Their 9th child, a son John Isreal died in East Corinth

All so far on them but I see that your Samuel & Huldah were in Meigs Co., Oh. which is where my MITCHELL line lived and Robert Mitchell married my grandmother, Eva Woodard who's father James M. Woodard was born 16 Dec 1849 in Springfield,Me as was his father

Benjamin H. Woodard born there in 1820, who married the afore mentioned Elizabeth Douglass b. 1826 I think in Springfield but have no proof yet. Does any of this info give you any clues or ideas in your lines?

I live in Was. state but am planning a trip to do research on these folks in Maine in August and need to know as much as I can to be prepared before I leave for Maine.

Good Luck in your research, Lorraine Fullerton Lorraine Fullerton, rainie14f@yahoo.com June 2008
