ALDEN :Augustus, Union, ME, b. 3 July, 1814, son of Ebenezer ALDEN. Seeking death date (1892?) and burial. Not found listed in any Union, ME, cemetary records. DOE/SHEPARD/ADAMS : Artemus SHEPARD, son of Daniel and Mary (ADAMS) SHEPARD of Union, Maine, married Martha DOE, daughter of Nathaniel Bartlett DOE, b. about 1760 in NH. Nathaniel and Mehitible DOE (2nd wife) moved to ME in 1794 and settled in Clinton.

HEMENWAY/CRABTREE: Miles HEMENWAY of Union, born 1788-1818 in MA or ME. He was the father of Hiram HEMENWAY born on 24 July 1838 probably in Union. Hiram HEMENWAY in turn married Amelia CRABTREE of Hope on 14 August 1859 and the couple subsequently resided in Warren. Hiram and Amelia were the parents of Myles HEMENWAY born 28 July 1860 and David HEMENWAY born 4 February 1862. The younger Myles later lived in Bangor, Presque Isle, Mt. Desert, and finally Portland. David later lived in South Hope. I am looking for ancestors and spouse of the senior Miles HEMENWAY of Union; ancestors and siblings of Amelia CRABTREE of Hope; and descendants of David HEMENWAY of South Hope. RAWLEY/MARR I am looking for any information on Mary Ann RAWLEY born in either St. George or Union, Knox County on 3-17-1857. She died in 1927 in Augusta, ME. There was also some reference to St. Johns on the death/cemetary cetificates. Mary Ann's father's name was Edward and she had a brother Joseph. Family story is that Mary Ann was born coming around the Cape of Good Hope. Her father was a ship's captain.

She married Ira MARR from Washington, ME. They moved to Augusta and had 11 children. I would appreciate any information that might be available on this family. Thank you in advance for any help you can give me.    Karen L. Verrinder   May 1999

SMITH/HAMILTON/KENNEDY/MOODY: Nicholas and Sarah (HAMILTON) SMITH were in Union by 1803, and had several children born there. By 1815 he had remarried Abigail "Sarah" (MOODY) KENNEDY, and moved to Wellington ME, where he had more children. VAUGHAN/LEDOYT/GLEASON: I am looking for any information on the family of Joseph (married Joanna LEDOYT), William or Augustus Vaughan. They lived in the city of Union in the early to mid 1800s.
I am also gathering information on the family of William and Lydia LEDOYT GLEASON who lived in Union.
Hannah VAUGHAN COBB was a widowed sister of Joseph, William and Augustus VAUGHAN. I believe the father of these VAUGHAN siblings was also named Joseph.
I'd love to correspond with anyone related to or interested in these families.

WOODCOCK/HOLMES/PEABODY: David WOODCOCK and his wife Abigail HOLMES WOODCOCK moved to Union in 1784. They had the last of their 7 children born there. It was Theodore WOODCOCK born Jan. 12, 1786. David became an active citizen in Union and settled upon what is called the Mill farm. He built a grist mill, was active in church matters, and was appointed one of a committee to raise funds to build a church.He was elected selectman of the town in 1788. He was appointed by the town as one of the committee to procure a plot of land for a burying place. He was the first person iterred in this cemetery Dec. 7, 1790.

His son David came to Union with his family when he was 13. He married in Union in 1794 Aphia PEABODY. They had 7 children born in Union. One of which was his son also David born Aug. 26, 1798 in Union.I was wondering if there are any descendants of this family still living in Union. WILLIAMS/MACINTOSH : Looking for information regarding Thomas WILLIAMS and Hattie MACINTOSH WILLIAMS. Thomas was born in Cape Breton, N.S. in 1893 and moved with his wife Hattie from White Point, NS., to Union or near Union in 1920's. Thomas died in Union in 1968.
