GOULD:
Johannah Coombs married William HIGGINS, both of Bath married 27 July 1790.
They had three children in the Bowdoin, Bowdoinham area. Wiiliam HIGGINS
was impressed on a Britih man-of-war and never returned.
Widow Johannah HIGGINS mar 2) Daniel GOULD 21 Feb 1799 in Rockport, ME.
1812 Daniel Gould was in a unit raised in Durham for the War of 1812.
1820 census Daniel GOULD
1830 census Daniel GOULD & Daniel GOULD Jr.
1834 Daniel GOULD and his family have removed to Springfield, Maine
1843 Johannah GOULD dies at age 74 in Springfield where she is buried
1850 Daniel is listed in the census but dies in 1857 and is buried in
Springfield.
I found an obit for Joannah GOULD in the Freewill Baptist publication
with all the correct information saying she found Christ in Durham in
1830. So Daniel is the Daniel Gould mentioned in the census and no doubt
the War of 1812 though he would have been 50. They married in 1799 so I
hope Daniel GOULD Jr. wasn't a 10 or 11 year old drummer boy. The obit
said she left and aged husband and six children to grieve her. My Sarah
HIGGINS WILLIAMS had already died in childbirth so there were four children
surviving from her marriage to Daniel GOULD and two from her marriage to
William HIGGINS. I would appreciate any information you can give me on
this family. Thanks so much.

KNIGHT/CAROLL: My
great grandfather was a C. Fred KNIGHT from Rockport, Maine. He was born
in 1851 and died in 1931. He had two brothers. One, Frank CAROLL, lived in
Rockland, Maine and some of the family may still be in the area. I do not
know what happened to the other brother. I believe his name was Augustus. I
have three photo albums which I think have pictures of these individuals and
their families but, no labels are available to identify them. I would be
interested in any information of the above.

SMITH: I have located the obituary of my ancestor, Captain Andrew Hall SMITH, born 1779, who died in Rockport Maine on September 27, 1849 at the age of 71. He had been a shipmaster in New York City and possibly was in the War of 1812. His wife was named Sarah.
Is there any record of Andrew SMITH or any family members who were in the shipbuilding or seafaring trades? My sense is that he came from a seafaring family. Lynn Keller HTHS57@aol.com April 2002
