Hope Queries
I'm not certain whether Almira's maiden name was GORHAM or BOWERS. I've
been unable to track her before the marriage date. I would appreciate
any assistance.

We are looking for a Nathaniel BARRETT (painter??) We have a painting by him and would like more information about him, please. Hope area we believe.

GUSHEE/LAUGHTON/ARNOLD:
Researching family of Stephen W. LAUGHTON and
Evaline Sylvester Arnold LAUGHTON m. 6 Jun 1847 in Appleton, Me. Stephen b.
20 Dec 1822 in Hope and Evaline b. 24 Jul 1826 in Hope. Do not know
Stephen's parents. Evaline's parents were Ambrose ARNOLD and Nancy GUSHEE
(b. 13 Oct. 1802, Barrettstown, prb died in Appleton abt 1841/46).
They had 5 children born in Appleton: Edwin, Mary, Stephen A.,and Willie A.
They had their youngest child born in Rockland in 1866. They moved to
Fairmont, Minn in 1870's. Is anyone researching these lines? This family
intermarried with PEASE, DRAKE, and several other local families. I would
appreciate any help with identifying Stephen's parents and information on
GUSHEE line. I believe Nancy GUSHEE's parents were Almond GUSHEE b.

b. 22 Apr 1782 in Union, Maine. Any information on this or related
families would be greatly appreciated.

Researching family of Stephen W. LAUGHTON and

MANSFIELD/GORHAM/BOWERS:
Israel MANSFIELD married Almira GORHAM BOWERS 8 Apr 1832 in Hope. It
was his second marriage. According to the state's marriage license
records, her tombstone, and THE MANSFIELD GENEALOGY, Almira was born 21
Jan 1808, Providence, RI and died 27 Jan 1887, Hope. They had 11
children: Everett, Algernon, Oscafolia, Caroline, Henry, Helen, Edward,
Ferdinand, Alonzo, Carrie, Daniel.
PEASE/ARNOLD/WENTWORTH:
Looking for WENTWORTH and ARNOLD marriage. Artist WENTWORTH married ALMIRA ARNOLD in Hope on January 22, 1827. She was supposedly born there about 1808. Artist WENTWORTH's brother, Leonard WENTWORTH, also married a MARY ARNOLD from Hope. Were ALMIRA ARNOLD and MARY ARNOLD sisters? WHO were their parents?

TAYLOR:
I am interested in finding the place of birth and the parents' names for Thomas TAYLOR and his wife Sarah (JONES) TAYLOR. Thomas was born in about 1781 (possibly Massachusetts) and Sarah was born in about 1784 (possibly in New Hampshire). They moved to Hope, Maine in approximately 1803 where they raised their five boys and four girls. Any information on where the originated would be appreciated. Thank you.
