Friendship Queries
I am a member of the Friendship Sloop Society and they don't seem to know much more than me. Can anyone help me ? I am scheduled to bring her to an antique boat show in Salem MA this summer and I'd like to have some info to tell the onlookers.
They had children: Nancy, James, Mary Francis, Hannah Morton (which makes me
think wife Mary "was" a BRADFORD since it appears she named this daughter
after her mother), Susan BRADFORD COOK b. June 8, 1833 (my 3rd grt.
grandmother who was given the BRADFORD middle name), and Francis COOK, Jr.
Can anyone verify wife
Mary was born to Josephus and Hannah (MORTON) BRADFORD. I would greatly
appreciate any info. Thank You for your time.
We know that Samuel PALMER (William of Hampton) migrated to Bristol in 1790 at the time Charles would have been very young as Charles married in 1810. There is a cemetary where interred are two of his children, Edward C. and George C, nearby the PALMER map site. I am looking for any additional information on this family.
Paul PALMER, now deceased Friendship resident in Dutch Neck, is related to the Shipbuilder PALMERs out of Boston.
There are two others: John of Scituate and William and Judith Freake PALMER lines which lived in the Rockland area. I have just started sorting out.
Any thoughts? Cheers,
I am researching who Edward THOMAS's father & mother were, I know from
'Thomaston, Rockland, & South Thomaston', 1865, that Edward came to
Thomaston to manage the fulling clothing mill on Mill Stream (p. 61).
I know he came from Friendship.
In a copy of the vital records I have from Friendship, it shows an Edward
THOMAS being born to Melzar and Lydia THOMAS. But I am wondering if there
is another Edward THOMAS mentioned any where else in those records, since I
doubt that the Edward mentioned in those records being born around 1815
would have married Melinda Fales TILSON on Sept 3, 1820 (being only 5 years
old).
Reuel THOMAS (great grandfather) b 1839 d sometime after 1906, married Jane A. AUSTIN. I have a lot of artifacts from Reuel, and his civil war experience, including his diary from Andersonville Prison, a tin-type taken at Gettsburg...etc.
Thanks in advance
Would like to know from where this THOMPSON
family migrated, what country and when. Also William's wifes name and birth, death dates, where she was
born, parents etc. I am continuing research on WINSLOW family genealogy that my dad's cousin
Ellen THOMPSON HALL had started, researching both sides, WINSLOW, THOMPSON etc.and bringing it up to
present day. Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You.
INFORMATION WANTED ON A FRIENDSHIP SLOOP NAMED 'DEPRESSION':
I own a Friensship Sloop built in 1899. Her name is Depression and has held that name since at least1935.I am trying to find some history on the boat . All I have is a picture taken in or around 1960 that says "Depression ,built by Wilbur Morse at Matinicus Island 1899 " It sounds to be like a contradiction , but I can't be sure because I have nothing else to go on.

CARD:
Have hit the proverbial brick wall. My gggrandfather , Edward Shannon CARD
was supposedly born 3/27/1801 in Friendship, Maine.
Family rumor has it that his father was a sea captain and was lost at sea as
were 5 brothers.
Several of us are searching , but to date no success. Could it possibly be
that someone there has a clue for us. Thank you.

DAVISI am trying to find out information about Lemuel Davis who lived in Friendship and/or Cushing from atleast 1800 through 1820. He is my great great great great great grandfather. My grandmother has done extensive research to find out his parents, where he was born, or other information about him, but the line seems to die out with him.
He is listed in the 1800 census for Cushing, then in the 1810 and 1820 Meduncook censuses. There is a Lemuel Davis in the 1830 Bristol census but none in Meduncook, and this could be the same person. He doesn't show up at all in the 1840 census, then shows up again in the Bremen census in 1850.
There are quite a few Davis's in the Cushing/Friendship area listed in the 1790 census, and it is quite possible that he is the child of one of them. But, so far no luck figuring out who... If anyone could shed any light on this mystery we would be very grateful!
