BARBOUR/BEARD: I am new at trying to find my ancestors. I understand that among my ancestors are some who were residents of Camden. My great-grandfather was George BARBOUR, who I believe was born in 1862 or 1863. His father was Simon BARBOUR. COBB/SMITH: Thomas COBB b. 1762, m. 1788 or 1789 Lucy SMITH in Wiscasset, Lincoln, ME. Children: Henry COBB b. 1798; Elizabeth COBB b. 1 Aug 1807. Thomas is on 1790 census for Camden. Searching for documentation to confirm above and for information on birth of other reported 8 children. Thomas was a farmer. Any information on searching for land ownership would be greatly appreciated.

DOW/WATERHOUSE :Am looking for information on Freeman Jefferson DOW and Julia Augusta WATERHOUSE. They resided in Camden in the 1870s/80s, and had 6 children; Bessie, Raymond, Alice, Louise, Bertha and Shirley. Freeman died November 1, 1915. Am looking for either of their ancestry. Thanks! GLOVER/CRABTREE: Looking for descendants of Capt. Elijah GLOVER, a prominent shipbuilder in Camden, Maine in 1854. He was married to Nancy CRABTREE and had a daughter, Rachel CRABTREE GLOVER, who was born April 28, 1827 in Vinalhaven, Lincoln, Maine and died Jan 11, 1916 in Malden, Middlesex, Mass. Rachel CRABTREE GLOVER married Charles Robinson POTTLE on July 4, 1854 in Camden, Maine in the house her father built which still stands today at the steamboat landing on High Street in Camden. (It is the present-day Camden Windward Inn). Charles Robinson POTTLE was born on June 3, 1830 in Montville, Waldo County, Maine and died in 1870 in Malden, Middlesex, MA Gretchen Maie Price-Rude    Gprice1117@aol.com     May 2002

Growing to womanhood in that state she was married in 1861 to Benjamin PARKER, who died in 1879, leaving his wife, with seven children. On July 3 1881, she married Abial P. RYDER. Both Abial and Elizabeth came west in 1891settled in Arlington Snohomish County, Wa. Abial met with a terrible accident and passed away Nov. 7 1898 at the age of 81 years. In the obit of Elizabeth dated 7-4-1914 it did not note her children but at Harwood Cemetery was noted Robert L. PARKERr b/1908 d/1947 (Possible s/o Clarence b/1878 and Stella) and in Abila RYDER obit he noted step-son Clarence PARKER still living in Trafton in 1898. There was also a Stella PARKER 1878-1912 in cemetery noted as wife of C.L. Parker. Abial Pierce RYDER was born at Albion, Main 1-1-1818 . He noted sons Delon E. and Fred W. RYDER of MN and Atwood P. and Bert A. in ME. He had another son Alvin W. whom disapeared the spring of 1913.

HIGGINS/MATTHEWS/WILEY : Seeking information on the ancestry and descendants of Benjamin and Sarah (MATTHEWS) HIGGINS; m1770 Harpswell, ME; residing in Bath, ME in the 1790 census with seven males (three over 16) and six females in the household; and residing in Camden, ME by 1794. Benjamin is cited in some sources as the s/o Philip and Mary (WILEY) HIGGINS but stronger evidence supports a Benjamin b 1764/1768 as their son. The following is a list of probable children (or close relatives) of Benjamin and Sarah (MATTHEWS) HIGGINS of Knox County.
